WE ARE SO READY!  And we have some exciting news to share with you...

This sign will be hanging at the concession stands at Gerald J. Ford Stadium next week!  We are thrilled to announce that Crave has teamed up with Southern Methodist University featuring our Old Fashioned Butter popcorn at all SMU athletic events this year!

While proudly supporting SMU, we also support ALL teams.  Blake and I both grew up participating in team sports.  We encourage being a part of team to our children.  The experience of working together for one goal is an invaluable life lesson.  We believe in the coaches, the players and all the heart they put into their sport.  Visit us in your uniform (doesn't have to be football) and receive a FREE bag of our Old Fashioned Butter popcorn this Saturday, September 6th!

 

happy fall :)

Don't you just love fall?  The first day of school has always been for me the first day of fall.  Sharpening my kids pencils, packing their backpacks and making their lunch the night before the first day of school...one of my most favorite days of the year.  They are excited to see their friends, and to meet their teachers.  For one day...they LOVE school.  Then there is the second day...let's not think about that yet!

Freshly sharpened pencils makes me think of that classic movie "You've Got Mail".  She, Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) loves New York in the fall.  She emailed Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) that she would send him a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils if she knew his name and address.

The whole theme of this movie has really stuck a chord with me.  Her little book store "The Shop Around the Corner" is forced to close due to his big department discount store "Fox Books" moving in just down the block.  Our little popcorn shop is doing so well despite big fancy grocers who carry all kinds of gourmet food.  We are so blessed by faithful customers who love our product.  We never dreamed we would sell as much as we have in this first 6 months of business.  We thank you for shopping small local businesses like us.  It's how America was built after all.  I encourage you to keep shopping small and local this fall.  It makes a difference...to us it does anyway.  Happy Fall...we hope all your kiddos have a great first day of school :)

summer begins with memorial day....

We just love this time of year...don't you?  School is almost out...warm summer days ahead…baseball filled weekends…trips to the snow cone stand are always a must.  Which gave us an idea :)  Have you ever had a New Orleans style sno-ball?  It is shaved ice (not crushed like a snow-cone) drenched with flavored syrup (shaved ice soaks up much more syrup than crushed ice) and then it is heavily drizzled with sweetened condensed milk on top!  Starting in June, you can get a New Orleans style sno-ball right here in Texas at Crave Popcorn Co. :)  

A funny side note to the brainstorm of the sno-ball addition to our menu this summer...I was recognized this weekend on the other side of town.  Meg and I were getting a few groceries between  baseball games, and in the cereal aisle at Kroger, a sweet woman stops and says..."omg....you are the POPCORN LADY!"  I smiled and giggled and said..."yes, that's me."  I felt like a celebrity...kinda...well that might be a stretch, but still...it was pretty cool :)

Did you know we can do just about any flavor you can dream up?  Have a favorite flavor you don't see on our menu?  No problem…just let us know and we will make whatever your tastebuds desire :)  Popping fresh high quality corn is our top priority each day, and the reason why we keep no more than 30 flavors at a time.  This week we are featuring Buffalo Ranch and Garlic Parmesan.  I'm kinda strangely in love with Buffalo Ranch ;)

it is official...

We did it!  Cut the ribbon with several members of the Plano Chamber of Commerce in attendance! Some how this seems to make it all so much more official.  We have to pinch ourselves sometimes…is this real or a dream?  Oh it is very real and a dream come true!  Thank you to the Mayor Pro Tem Mrs. Lissa Smith and Chamber Ambassador Brian Padden who presented us with Ribbon Cutting Congratulations Certificate last night.  We also want to thank the many chamber members who came out to support us.  Blake and I both feel almost overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement.  This chamber is an incredible group of people and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

Kim is a dear friend of mine from my childhood.  This light hearted read about Kim's experiences as a Korean adoptee is full of wit, charm and endearment.  You will love every page…I promise!    We would love for you to come by tomorrow from 2 to 4pm to meet Kim and of course enjoy some popcorn on the house!

Beyond blessed.

We have been open for 6 weeks and it has been kinda awesome.  We feel beyond blessed. And wow.... we have learned a lot. We are finally getting in a rythem. Thank you for your patience as we figure it out.  

While trying to better our menu, Blake has been toying with some fun flavors. For you crazy pepper lovin' fans...we have a ghost pepper chili cheddar. It is super hot. For reals...fire alarm H.O.T.

We also have cinnamon bun. It tames the fire. So good.

happy...

I'm feeling happy :) is this where I am supposed to hashtag? #happy?? Learning how to navigate social media is not second nature for me. I'm definitely a nerd...just not the techy kind :) Anyway...we are happy. Let me tell ya why...

-popcorn=happy

-cherry sours and jelly bellys and chocolate seat salted caramels = happy

-making gift baskets for families battling yucky diseases that puts smiles on their faces = happy

-seeing sweet supportive friends and family from past and present = happy

-hearing how much you love the shop and the product = happy

My favorite happy moment of the week? When Blake said he loses sleep over a customer not liking his popcorn...but then right after a customer comes BACK and says, "I gotta have more of that caramel corn" .....BIG HAPPY SMILE :)
